An Unforgettable 5 Years: Happy Anniversary KMG
People ask me if I plan to have a third child. My answer: I already have a third baby: my business! On March 16, 2015 I set out to chart a path that I hoped was financially viable. I had to be strategic, reverse-engineer my profitability measures, surround myself with the best team and hustle like never before. And here I am, almost 5 years to the day later and I can proudly report that we survived… and are thriving.
Happy 5th Anniversary to Kaleidoscope Management Group! While on the surface this may not seem like much of a milestone, to me it is huge. This company is a deeply personal journey for me. And the creative collaborators that come alongside me every day to create purposeful work are truly a gift. And it means we’ve officially beaten the odds — roughly 50% of small businesses don’t make it to past the five-year mark.
Reflections on 5 years… The highs and the hard stuff
The Team
I have had the chance to work with some of the coolest, most witty, imaginative human beings. Our team is the backbone of KMG. As with any business owner, it’s been tough to let many of them move onto their next chapter. That may be the hardest part of running my own business that nobody warned me about. But I always want the best people. And the best people are always growing.
The Clients
Yes, what we do is marketing. But for me, it is much more about the human connection. My clients are letting me into the health, habits and hazards of their business. I’m their partner. Marketing is the means to the end in helping our clients achieve their goals and dream big. Knowing that KMG is part of those conversations with our clients is what has gotten me jumping out of bed in the morning for the last 5 years.
New Tools
Lastly, to commemorate 5 years, we are launching Prism, a new monthly communication covering a variety of topics, including mar-tech trends, people doing cool things in the region and more. Be sure to sign up!
I’m so proud of these last 5 years and want to thank my amazing team for being absolute stars and our clients that make every day extraordinarily worthwhile.
